If you have ever asked for help finding the perfect Red, you will know the first thing I will ask you is “Blue or Orange based Red?” I thought it was time that I explained just what that means. Above you will see three Reds, Cherry Red, Scarlet and Emotion Red. All three of the Reds are hand dyed using the same amount of dye, the same fabric and dyed on the same day. Can you see the change in tone? Cherry Red has the most Orange tone to it, thus is an Orange based Red. Scarlet is a deeper Red but still, has that warm Orange undertone and is an Orange based Red. Emotion Red has a cool undertone, deeper and richer, Blue based Red.
Big sigh! Today was the first day of Marbling in almost a year. A bit shaky at first, then muscle memory took over. Happy Dance is in order.
I chose Sun as the first color this year because it makes me happy.
You will be able to view the different designs on my website in about sixteen days. Why so long? The fabric must cure for two weeks, wash, dry and iron, followed by scanning, watermarking, edit and adding to site.
Been using all of that wonderful snow to dye fabric. I have just over 200 pieces dyed, now the ironing begins. It takes a while. I watch DVD’s while ironing, stocked up at the library before all of the new snow arrived. Hope to have new pieces on my website soon.
I am playing with color mixing. Ocean is the latest mix. Teal and Purple. Both colors are my own mix. The color variation it produces is amazing. I have some other ideas up my sleeve. Yes, you can find it on my website www.marbled-arts.com I also have dyed some my Cotton Scarves. I think I will have a hard time letting them go.
Fall is officially here, that makes me think of a mug of Hot Chocolate. Now I am not talking about Milk Chocolate, but rich Dark Chocolate. Luscious, yummy really Dark Chocolate in the Waved Icarus Design.
Keep having to look up fabric measurements? Created this handy Yardage Chart!
Every wondered what 200 yards of fabric looks like? Well, I found out. Normally I order 400 yard, 100 yards per roll, easy to handle. But instead this shipment arrived with two 200 yard rolls. Fabric wrestling at its finest.
Not to worry, I am in the middle of dying all of my fabric for marbling and updating the photos and color selection on my web site www.marbled-arts.com The new photos are much larger and easier to view. Below you can see a few of the new beauties. Blue-Green is always a favorite.
Tangerine is becoming popular. I cannot make up my mind, if this is orange or yellow. Depends on what you put next to it.
Chartreuse, just makes me smile, now in dark, medium and light.
Pansy Purple, rich deep dark purples.
Yellow, because it is always hard to find a good clear yellow.
Fire and Emotion Red, Yum!!!
